Psychologist Brisbane Northside

Clinical Psychology for Adults using IFS, EMDR, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Compassion-Based Therapies

When Everything Feels Too Much

Your chest tightens and your mind spins, playing over the past, even though there’s nothing you can do about it now. It’s not uncommon for you to be gripped by sadness or worry. Whether it’s over a conversation at work earlier that day, something that happened long ago when you were a kid, realising you drank or got high again despite promising yourself you won’t do that anymore, or the last time you saw a person who is now gone forever. Either way, you feel sick and it’s hard to breathe. You want to shrink and hide. You worry people will find out just how overwhelmed and out of control you feel, while you smile and pretend you’ve got it all together.

I’m Julie and I’m Here to Support You

I’m a Clinical Psychologist on Brisbane’s Northside, and I help people who want to find the place inside themselves that is centred, grounded, compassionate and wise when all they are feeling at the moment is anxiety, stress and grief. Together through therapeutic conversation and exploration we will look at the patterns, new and old, that keep you trapped from feeling like yourself. My clients experience a lot of healing from the past and current pain in their life while learning to create new ways of responding to themselves and others.

Therapy That Helps You Reconnect with Yourself

My approach is evidence-based, weaving together Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, mindfulness, compassion, meditative awareness and somatic practices, spirituality (whatever that means for you), Buddhist wisdom, and EMDR. Meeting together weekly, we slow down and explore what’s happening inside, the parts of you that strive, pressure, criticise, avoid, numb, over-give, over-care, hold pain and grief, and help you meet them with empathy and compassion.

People I Love to Work With

The clients I work with are diverse, from over-performing and over-caring adults (even young adults) with anxiety, therapists who want their own therapy, people who are grieving, struggling with alcohol or substance abuse, or clients who know they need IFS and EMDR for past pain.

One thing they all have in common though is that they are ready to do something different in their life and unburden themselves from all that they are carrying.

What could that look like for you? To feel without it taking you under, to find more joy in your day, to quiet the inner critic and be genuinely kind to yourself…the possibilities are endless. But the only way to find out how therapy can help is to book a consult
